The job, in the employer's words

About the Job:

LaunchDarkly is seeking a Senior Director, Revenue Accounting and OTC Operations to lead our global revenue accounting organization. In this role, you will proactively partner with GTM, Legal, Deal Desk and Product to define the strategy and operating model for how we quote and contract, and design policies and systems that support scalable and predictable growth, reduce friction for customers and internal teams, and protect revenue quality.

You will be responsible for order management, billings, collections, revenue and commissions accounting, ensuring accurate metrics and financial reporting, and strong internal controls and compliance with U.S. GAAP in recognizing revenue.

This role is ideal for a strategic, hands-on revenue accounting leader with a customer-centric mindset, who is comfortable driving change across multiple functions at scale, and combines deep technical revenue accounting expertise with operational leadership, exceptional communication skills, and the ability to influence across an evolving organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the global revenue accounting and OTC operation functions and help shape the controllership roadmap in support of company growth and operational maturity
  • Own the accounting for all revenue streams and commissions, including the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process to ensure timely and accurate financial results and metrics reporting
  • Serve as the company's subject matter expert on revenue recognition, providing technical guidance to executive leadership and GTM business partners
  • Collaborate closely with the Data team on metrics reporting (including ARR, NNARR, ACV), and FP&A on forecasting assumptions and other matters affecting revenue accounting
  • Partner closely with GTM, Deal Management, Legal and Product to define contract structures and approval matrix to support a scalable deal process with a balance of strong governance and a practical and business-oriented approach
  • Strengthen the company’s internal control environment, including SOX readiness and execution, process documentation, control design, and remediation efforts where needed
  • Be responsible for managing the annual external audit for revenue related areas and partnering with auditors to ensure efficient execution and high-quality deliverables
  • Lead the design and execution of scalable OTC workflows and system processes that improve accuracy, reduce manual effort, and support a high-growth SaaS environment
  • Partner with Technology teams and business stakeholders on ERP and system enhancements, integrations, and reporting improvements
  • Build management reporting and KPIs for the revenue accounting organization to improve visibility into efficiency, quality, and operational capacity
  • Mentor, develop, and retain a high-performing accounting team, creating clear accountability, strong development paths, and a culture of operational excellence
  • Serve as a trusted partner to leadership by balancing strong governance with practical, business-oriented problem solving

Qualifications:

  • 12+ years of progressive accounting experience, including a mix of Big 4 public accounting and industry leadership experience in multi-entity, public-company SOX environment
  • Hands-on systems orientation, with experience improving ERP workflows, reporting, and automation across accounting processes. Experience in NetSuite (or similar ERP), CPQ and SFDC
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, ASC 606, revenue cycle operations, internal controls, close processes, and financial reporting requirements
  • Demonstrated success leading teams through scale, process improvement, and organizational change
  • Experience building and improving OTC cycle operations in a fast-paced SaaS or technology company
  • Demonstrated track record of driving process transformation through automation, data, and AI enabled solutions
  • Proven ability to partner cross-functionally and influence outcomes across Finance, Product, Legal, Sales, and executive leadership without direct authority
  • Strong executive presence, sound judgment, and the ability to communicate clearly with senior leaders and auditors
  • Ability to move between strategic leadership and detailed execution with a high degree of ownership
