The job, in the employer's words

About Zipdev

Zipdev is an Inc. 5000 staffing and talent solutions company helping U.S. and Canadian businesses build high-performing teams with top talent throughout Latin America.

For more than a decade, we've helped companies find exceptional talent, reduce hiring costs, and build long-term teams without the complexity of traditional recruiting and employment.

Our services include:

  • Nearshore Staffing: Helping companies hire full-time, dedicated remote professionals throughout Latin America across technical and non-technical roles.
  • Direct Hire Recruiting: Helping businesses recruit and hire talent directly, including U.S.-based professionals, by leveraging our experienced recruiting team.
  • Payroll Services: Helping companies engage and support professionals they've already identified in Latin America by handling payroll, benefits, and related administrative services.

We're continuing to grow, and we're looking for an Outside Sales Representative who can help us expand our presence in the San Diego market.

The Opportunity

We're looking for a proven B2B salesperson who loves building relationships, meeting new people, and creating opportunities.

This is not a role where you'll sit behind a computer waiting for inbound leads. We want someone who enjoys getting out into the community, attending networking events, visiting businesses, picking up the phone, and developing relationships that turn into long-term clients.

You'll work directly with our Co-Founder to help grow Zipdev's presence throughout San Diego, build a strong local pipeline, and bring in new business.

You'll have the support of an established recruiting and client services team, a defined sales playbook, and a proven service offering. Your job is to get in front of the right people, understand their hiring challenges, introduce them to Zipdev, and close business.

We're looking for someone who takes ownership of their territory, enjoys the hunt, and is motivated by results.

What You'll Do

Own the San Diego Market

  • Develop and execute a local business development strategy focused on growing Zipdev's presence throughout San Diego County.
  • Identify and prospect businesses that fit Zipdev's ideal client profiles, including growing companies that need access to qualified talent, want to reduce hiring costs, or need additional recruiting and workforce support.
  • Build relationships with founders, co-founders, CEOs, business owners, HR Directors, Heads of People, and other decision-makers responsible for hiring and workforce planning.
  • Understand the unique hiring challenges of different client personas and tailor conversations to their business needs.
  • Develop referral relationships with local business organizations, professional groups, and strategic partners.
  • Become a recognizable and trusted representative of Zipdev within the San Diego business community.

Prospect and Generate New Business

  • Consistently generate new opportunities through cold calling, outbound emails, LinkedIn outreach, referrals, and other prospecting channels.
  • Conduct in-person business visits, office drop-offs, and other local outreach activities.
  • Attend networking events, conferences, industry gatherings, and community events to develop relationships and generate leads.
  • Follow Zipdev's established Sales Activity & Pipeline Playbook to maintain consistent prospecting activity and pipeline development.
  • Proactively identify companies with current or future hiring needs and introduce them to Zipdev's solutions.
  • Build and maintain a healthy pipeline of qualified sales opportunities.

Manage the Full Sales Cycle

  • Conduct discovery meetings to understand prospective clients' hiring challenges, business goals, and staffing needs.
  • Present Zipdev's nearshore staffing, direct hire, and payroll solutions based on each client's needs.
  • Deliver company overviews, explain our recruiting process, and communicate the value of working with Zipdev.
  • Prepare proposals, address objections, negotiate terms, and close new business.
  • Meet or exceed individual sales quotas and revenue targets.
  • Maintain consistent follow-up with prospects throughout the sales cycle.

Build and Maintain Client Relationships

  • Develop strong relationships with new clients and ensure a smooth transition from sales to recruiting and customer success.
  • Stay connected with clients to identify additional hiring needs and opportunities for growth.
  • Collaborate with Recruiting and Customer Success to ensure clients receive a great experience.
  • Provide responsive, relationship-focused support when clients need assistance.
  • Identify opportunities for referrals, repeat business, and introductions to additional hiring managers.

Execute the Sales Playbook

  • Follow Zipdev's established sales processes, activity expectations, and performance standards.
  • Consistently execute outbound prospecting activities, including calls, emails, LinkedIn outreach, drop-offs, and networking.
  • Maintain accurate prospect information, activity records, opportunities, and follow-up tasks in HubSpot.
  • Participate in regular pipeline reviews, sales meetings, and coaching sessions.
  • Track performance against activity goals, qualified opportunities, signed agreements, and revenue targets.
  • Take ownership of your results and continuously look for ways to improve.

Requirements

What We're Looking For

  • 3+ years of B2B sales experience, preferably in an outside sales or business development role.
  • A proven track record of meeting or exceeding individual sales quotas.
  • Previous experience selling staffing, recruiting, or workforce solutions is a strong plus.
  • Experience selling directly to founders, co-founders, CEOs, business owners, HR Directors, Heads of People, and other senior decision-makers is highly preferred.
  • Understanding of how businesses make hiring decisions, including the challenges associated with recruiting, talent shortages, labor costs, and workforce planning.
  • Experience prospecting, generating leads, managing a pipeline, and closing new business.
  • Strong relationship-building skills and a genuine interest in meeting people and developing professional connections.
  • Comfortable cold calling, visiting businesses in person, attending networking events, and creating opportunities from scratch.
  • Experience selling HR services, payroll, SaaS, technology, professional services, or other B2B solutions is a plus.
  • Strong consultative selling skills with the ability to understand business challenges and communicate solutions.
  • Self-motivated, organized, competitive, and accountable.
  • Comfortable following a structured sales process and being measured against activity and revenue goals.
  • Experience using a CRM such as HubSpot or Salesforce.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and follow-up skills.
  • Must be based in the San Diego area and available for regular in-person meetings, business visits, and networking events.
  • Reliable transportation for local business development activities.

The Person Who Will Crush This Role

You genuinely enjoy meeting people.

You're the kind of person who walks into a networking event and leaves with five new relationships. You're comfortable picking up the phone, introducing yourself to a business owner, or walking into an office to make a connection.

You don't wait for opportunities to come to you. You create them.

You understand how business owners and HR leaders think. You know that hiring isn't just about filling an open position. It's about finding great people, controlling costs, and building a team that can support the business.

You know how to ask the right questions, uncover hiring challenges, and position yourself as a trusted resource rather than just another salesperson pitching a service.

You understand that sales is about consistency. You know that not every conversation will turn into a deal, but you also know that relationships, follow-up, and daily activity eventually create results.

You're competitive, but you're also genuine. You know how to build trust and play the long game.

You want to work for a company where your contributions matter, where you can work directly with leadership, and where you have the opportunity to help grow a market.

Most importantly, you're excited to get out into San Diego, build relationships, and win new business.

What Success Looks Like

Success in this role means:

  • Consistently meeting or exceeding your individual sales quota.
  • Building a strong and growing pipeline of qualified opportunities throughout San Diego.
  • Developing meaningful relationships with local business owners, executives, and decision-makers.
  • Consistently executing the activities outlined in Zipdev's Sales Activity & Pipeline Playbook.
  • Generating new business through a combination of prospecting, networking, referrals, and local outreach.
  • Closing new staffing, direct hire, and payroll clients.
  • Maintaining strong CRM discipline and predictable follow-up.
  • Creating positive client experiences that lead to referrals and repeat business.
  • Helping establish Zipdev as a trusted staffing and recruiting partner in the San Diego business community.

Why Join Zipdev?

  • Join an established, growing company with more than a decade of experience.
  • Sell solutions that help businesses find great people and build stronger teams.
  • Work directly with the Co-Founder and have a meaningful impact on local growth.
  • Receive support from an experienced recruiting and client services team.
  • Follow a defined sales playbook while having the freedom to build relationships and create opportunities.
  • Earn commissions based on your sales performance.
  • Be part of a company that values relationships, accountability, teamwork, and continuous learning.

We're looking for someone who wants more than just another sales job.

We want someone who's excited to own the San Diego market, build meaningful relationships, and help grow Zipdev one client at a time.
