The job, in the employer's words

Alumis Inc. is a precision medicines company with the mission to transform the lives of patients with autoimmune diseases. Even with treatment innovations of the last two decades, many patients with immunologic conditions continue to suffer - our goal is to fundamentally change the outcomes for these patients.

As Alumis prepares for the potential launch of envudeucitinib (ESK-001) in dermatology, we are seeking an experienced Medical Director to lead Medical content strategy, scientific readiness, and launch execution. This individual will serve as the primary Medical Affairs lead responsible for translating emerging clinical data into scientifically accurate, clinically meaningful, and launch-ready resources that support internal teams and external scientific engagement.

Working closely with senior Medical Affairs leadership, this role will partner across Clinical Development, Scientific Communications, Medical Information, Regulatory, Commercial, Legal, and Field Medical to ensure consistent scientific communication and execution throughout late-stage development and launch.

Responsibilities

  •  Serve as the Medical Affairs lead for Medical Review (MLR) of promotional and non-promotional materials, ensuring scientific accuracy, clinical relevance, balanced interpretation, and consistency with the evolving evidence base.
  • Lead Medical content strategy and scientific readiness across launch-critical resources, translating emerging clinical data into clear, clinically meaningful educational materials for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain high-quality field-facing Medical resources, including scientific slide decks, FAQs, competitive resources, objection handling tools, scientific narratives, and disease state education.
  • Lead scientific readiness activities surrounding major congresses and clinical data disclosures, including internal training, competitive analysis, data interpretation, FAQs, and post-congress scientific synthesis.
  • Partner with Field Medical leadership to develop and continuously improve MSL resources that support high-quality scientific exchange with healthcare professionals.
  • Coordinate internal Medical training across disease state, mechanism of action, clinical data, competitive landscape, and evolving scientific narratives.
  • Monitor the evolving TYK2, psoriasis, and broader dermatology competitive landscape and translate emerging scientific developments into implications for Medical strategy, content, and launch readiness.
  • Partner closely with Scientific Communications, Medical Information, Clinical Development, Regulatory, Commercial, and Legal to ensure scientific consistency across Medical content and communication channels.
  • Translate insights generated from advisory boards, congresses, MSL interactions, and external scientific engagement into content priorities, educational opportunities, and evidence gaps.
  • Support development and maintenance of launch-ready Medical Affairs infrastructure, ensuring scientific materials remain current throughout late-stage development and commercialization.
  • Represent Medical Affairs on cross-functional launch teams and contribute to strategic planning for product launch and lifecycle management.

Experience, Education, and Specialized Knowledge and Skills

  • Demonstrated ability to translate complex clinical and mechanistic data into clear, scientifically rigorous educational content.
  • Strong understanding of Medical Review (MLR) processes and experience reviewing promotional and non-promotional materials.
  • Experience developing Medical Affairs resources supporting product launch, field medical, scientific communications, and medical education.
  • Excellent scientific writing, presentation, and communication skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Strong project leadership skills with the ability to manage multiple complex initiatives simultaneously.
  • Deep understanding of dermatology, immunology, and the evolving competitive landscape.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively across Clinical Development, Commercial, Regulatory, Scientific Communications, Medical Information, and Field Medical.
  • Highly organized, execution-oriented, and capable of translating strategy into scalable operational deliverables.
  • Thrives in a fast-paced biotechnology environment requiring adaptability, collaboration, and proactive problem solving.

Basic Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Medical Affairs, Clinical Development, Scientific Communications, or related pharmaceutical functions.
  • Experience supporting late-stage clinical development or commercial launch activities.
  • Strong understanding of evidence generation, clinical trial interpretation, and scientific communication.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong executive presence with the ability to influence cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to travel up to approximately 25% domestically and internationally, based on business needs, including support for scientific congresses, training, and other Medical Affairs activities.
