The job, in the employer's words

Builders Capital is seeking a Corporate Counsel to join our Casa Lending team. This role is responsible for ensuring that originated loans are properly perfected across all jurisdictions in which we operate. You’ll collaborate closely with our Loan Production Team, outside counsel, and Title Companies to manage loan closings, review title policies, and handle other legal matters related to loan origination.

Casa Lending is one of the fastest-growing private money lending firms in the United States. Our mission is to help real estate investors profitably scale their business by offering a best-in-class suite of loan products and leveraging top talent.

What You'll Do:

  • Partner with the Loan Production Team to ensure loans are properly perfected across multiple jurisdictions while delivering a first-class client experience.
  • Review, distribute, and occasionally prepare complex loan documents, including Loan Agreements, Mortgages, Deeds of Trust, and related legal instruments.
  • Negotiate and finalize loan terms to align with credit approvals and internal requirements; draft ancillary documents such as Subordination Agreements and Corporate Resolutions.
  • Prepare, review, and distribute other legal documents, including Loan Discharges, Assignments, Extensions, UCC filings, and additional signed instruments.
  • Conduct title reviews to confirm first lien positions on all loans.
  • Coordinate with Title Companies to ensure accurate recording, filing, and finalization of title policies.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to meet tight deadlines and ensure smooth loan closings.
  • Complete final review of all closing document packages.
  • Draft and review ad hoc updates or enhancements to loan documentation as needed, escalating issues when appropriate.
  • Review borrowing entity documents and confirm execution authority.
  • Manage a high-volume workload independently while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Support cross-departmental legal needs on an ad hoc basis.

Requirements

  • This role is remote; however, candidates located in the Pacific Time Zone are strongly preferred.
  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree with 3–5 years of relevant experience.
  • Licensed attorney in good standing with active bar admission in a U.S. jurisdiction; California License required.
  • Experience closing complex real estate transactions in multiple jurisdictions strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency reviewing title policies in connection with residential loan closings preferred.
  • Familiarity with lender documentation and loan packages.
  • General understanding of secured transactions and lien priority.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven ability to execute with urgency and precision in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Comfortable adopting and utilizing new technology.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Benefits

  • Competitive Compensation - We offer competitive wages that reflect your expertise and performance.
  • Paid Time Off - Recharge with 3 weeks of paid time off annually.
  • Paid Holidays - Enjoy 10 paid holidays each year.

We’re here to support you both professionally and personally-because when you thrive, we all thrive.
