We are seeking an Associate Product Manager to join our Enterprise Data Solutions team. In this role, you will be a key contributor to the operational execution and strategic evolution of our Enterprise Data Governance Program. You will play a critical role in making Toast's data trustworthy, compliant, and discoverable as the company scales its AI and data capabilities.

A day in the life (Responsibilities)

  • Design & Strategy: Support the facilitation of the Data Governance Council working sessions and act as a Subject Matter Expert for the enterprise Business Glossary.
  • Automation & Scalability: Partner with the data catalog team to streamline metadata standards, automating data discovery across business platforms and analytics tools.
  • Governance & Documentation: Develop comprehensive governance documentation, stewardship training materials, and SOPs to ensure domains scale with consistent practices.
  • Continuous Improvement: Research emerging data management frameworks and AI governance best practices to proactively enhance enterprise data policies.
  • Platform Health: Take ownership of governance dashboards, proactive compliance monitoring, and data quality tracking to maintain overall data foundation reliability.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional partners (e.g., Engineering, Analytics, Legal) to translate business definitions into technical metadata specifications.

What you'll need to thrive (Requirements)

  • Years of Experience: 2+ years of professional experience in data governance, data management, product management, or analytics.
  • Technical Mastery: Proven experience with modern data platforms (Snowflake, dbt) and data catalogs (DataHub, Alation, Atlan), specifically focused on enterprise metadata and stewardship deployments.
  • Implementation: Demonstrated ability to implement data governance frameworks, business glossaries, and data domain models for core enterprise applications.
  • Problem Solving: Solid understanding of industry standards and best practices within data management, metrics standardization, and metadata curation.
  • Tools: Experience with SQL for governance reporting, analytics, and data quality analysis.
  • Communication: Excellent analytical and verbal skills to communicate complex governance policies and lead cross-functional workshops across technical and non-technical audiences.

What will help you stand out (Nonessential/Nice to Haves)

  • Certifications: Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP) or active coursework toward certification.
  • Domain Knowledge: Familiarity with compliance frameworks (e.g., SOC 2, GDPR, CCPA) or data management frameworks like DAMA-DMBOK.
  • Breadth: Experience with adjacent tools and frameworks such as data observability platforms (Monte Carlo, Great Expectations) or AI governance models.
  • Industry Context: Prior experience in B2B SaaS, restaurant technology, or a fast-paced product company.
