OUR STORY

For more than 35 years, Bardel Entertainment has been growing and evolving, yet at our core, we remain grounded in the creative roots of the craft of animation.  Our pursuit of fresh ideas, techniques, and technologies is driven by the belief that together, through creativity and collaboration, we can accomplish anything!  If you want to be part of an environment that empowers you to experiment, learn, and contribute to exciting projects, come and join us.

Requirements

We are looking for a talented Design Artist to join our team on a stylized CG animated TV featurette during the color keys stage. The project's visual style and art direction have already been established, and the artist will help bring this vision to life through color key development and background painting. The ideal candidate can work confidently within an existing style, creating cohesive artwork that supports the project's storytelling, mood, and visual consistency.

Responsibilities

  • Create color keys that establish the color palette, mood, lighting, and atmosphere for key scenes and sequences, following the project's established visual style.
  • Paint and refine backgrounds that align with the existing art direction, color keys, and overall aesthetic of the project.
  • Maintain visual consistency across scenes, environments, and sequences.
  • Collaborate with the Design team and Art Director to interpret visual direction and deliver artwork that meets the project's creative and production requirements.
  • Incorporate feedback and revisions while meeting production schedules and quality expectations.

Qualifications

  • Experience in color key development and background painting for animation.
  • A strong understanding of color theory, lighting, composition, perspective, and atmosphere.
  • A portfolio demonstrating strong color keys and painted backgrounds, ideally in a stylized CG animation aesthetic.
  • Ability to work within an established visual style and maintain consistency across assigned artwork.
  • Strong attention to detail, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to manage priorities, respond to feedback, and meet deadlines in a production environment.

Nice to Have

  • Previous experience on stylized CG animated TV productions, featurettes, or other short-form animation projects.
  • Experience joining a production mid-pipeline and adapting quickly to established art direction.
